Helping Hands

We as Moms all understand that helping hands can actually cause more work and take 5 times as long to get things accomplished. Today would definitely be a great example of that.

We sat down after a dinner of homemade pizza and strawberry short cake to visit with our guests. We cleaned up for a few minutes. After about 20-30 minutes we started smelling a strange and awful stench. We could not figure out what the smell was. It smelled a little like gas or paint but none of us could figure it out. We even went to the neighbors house to see if they were doing anything. So thinking it could be a gas leak, due to the fact it was so strong in the kitchen, we tried to call the housing office. All the numbers we tried either no one answered or it was disconnected. So we called the fire prevention office who patched us through to the fire department. They told us to wait outside. The fire truck came, lights flashing, alarm sounding, and all. Adler was very excited. The firemen rushed into the house. One of them saying "If I fall down just leave me." They searched the kitchen and thought the smell was coming from the vent next to the stove. One of the firemen burned his finger when he touched it (the engine was overheating badly). Not the source of the smell. But now where was the mystery smell coming from???? The brave and wonderful firemen found it!!!!! It was a rolling pin Ben had loaded in the dish washer RIGHT ON TOP OF THE HEATING ELEMENT. I loaded most of the dishes and Ben wanted to help.....so he opened the dish washer and loaded the pizza roller. I love our wonderful stories that we will get to share when our children have children. We all had a great laugh....including the firemen.
